Founded over 130 years ago, the Knights of Columbus represent the largest Roman
Catholic fraternal entity in the world. The Knights of Columbus was named in
honor of Christopher Columbus, whom the organization reveres as its patron.
Created to serve any Knights and their families in need of
financial aid, the organization looks to the principles of fraternity, charity,
and unity as guideposts. Members of the Knights take part in fellowship by way
of educational and charitable efforts, and provide relief to the indigent, the
needy, and individuals with disabilities.
Although the Knights of Columbus originated in the United States, the organization currently counts more than 1.8 million individuals spread across 14,000 countries all around the world as members.
