Committed to promoting Catholic education at all levels, the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) dedicates substantial resources to recognizing leaders in the field, such as Father Thomas Maikowski, a past recipient of NCEA’s Secondary Schools Department Award. Father Maikowski earned this tribute in acknowledgement of his work on behalf of Catholic high schools throughout the American Southwest, particularly those serving Native Americans. Father Thomas Maikowski’s efforts expanded the presence of NCEA’s Secondary Schools Department in the Southwest through his work as teacher, administrator, and Superintendent and Director of Education.
In service of its mission, to advance Catholic education and the work of Catholic educators such as Father Thomas Maikowski, the National Catholic Educational Association and its Board of Directors have honored those distinguished leaders, educators, administrators, and volunteers through the dissemination of prizes, including the NCEA Distinguished Principal Award, the John F. Meyers Award, and the Leonard F. DeFiore Parental Choice Advocate Award. NCEA Secondary Schools Department Award winners for 2012 include Deacon James V. Adams, President of Chaminade College Preparatory; Sister Adele Lambert, CSJ, President of St. Joseph's Academy, and Brother Michael Collins, FSC, President of DeLaSalle High School.
